Skeleton Festival – Saturday, October 21 4 pm – 8 pm
The second annual Skeleton Festival is back! Trick-or-treat at local businesses throughout downtown from 4-6pm. Pick up a Candy Map at the Visitor Center in the Hardesty Higgins House, 212 S. Main Street, to see the list of trick-or treat locations and look for the orange balloons outside businesses!
Then join us for an all-ages party at the Turner Pavilion & Park from 6-8pm! Festivities include: kids, dogs, and adults costume contests; music; food trucks; a community ofrenda; trunk-or-treating; wacky shacks, goober blobs, whisker biscuits, and more!

COSTUME CONTESTS SIGN-UP
Zombie Run for Brains 2017 at Fear Forest – Saturday, October 21 11 am – 1 pm
Can you navigate your way through the gounds of Fear Forest with out getting infected by the zombies that lurk along the way? Each participant will be given a flag football belt at the beginning of the race. Make it through the course and finish with at least one flag and you’ve survived! End the course without any flags left, you’ve been infected and will need to be “disinfected” before you can rejoin society.
*Proceeds benefit Crossroads to Brain Injury Recovery, Inc. A nonprofit organization that provides information, resources and services to improve the quality of life for those affected by brain injury in the counties of Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Bath, Rockbridge and all the cities included within so they can lead independent and productive lives.
Children’s Harvest Festival 2017 at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum -Saturday, October 21 11 am – 2 pm
The Gus Bus, the JMU Duke Dog, JMuke, free children’s crafts, dancers, local musicians, and Harrisonburg’s favorite horses from Classic Carriage with their wagon, all join together with the EJC Arboretum, for the 2017 Children’s Harvest Festival! Free admission!

Fall Foliage Carriage Ride at the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum – Sunday, October 22 1 pm – 4pm
Reservations are highly recommended as this event is often sold out in advance. Call our office at (540) 568-3194 during business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00-4:00 to reserve your ride.

Meet at the Frances Plecker Education Center. Each carriage ride is approximately one mile in length and completes a circuit through the arboretum forest on a graveled, unlit route.
